LANCE, a German Shepherd police dog with the Ontario Provincial Police, along with his handler, Provincial Constable Tom Murray, tracked a missing Kitchener woman in a swampy conservation area for three hours, eventually leading her through the dark woods to safety.


DIXIE, a Beagle owned by Lloyed Viney, averted a possible tragedy when he located an explosive device hidden in a tree in a small park. Police credited Dixie with potentially saving the lives of many young children who play in the park and may have found the device.


MAUDE, a German Shepherd, owned by Deborah Johnston and Bernard Chisholm, saved a three-year-old girl from drowning in the frigid waters of Pictou Harbour. Gripping the child’s overalls in her teeth, Maude pulled the child out of the deep water.
