The relationship between a man and his dog is unlike any other. It’s a bond so strong and so special that little compares. This is the kind of bond Constable Matthew Williamson (Matt) had with his partner, Police Service Dog Quanto. Quanto, a five year old German Shepherd Dog, was truly Matt’s “partner in crime.”

Meskie is a 17-year-old Calico-Angora mixed cat whose calm and gentle disposition stole Chyrl Field’s heart the moment she laid eyes on her. Chyrl, a 67-year-old retiree, is a life-long animal lover. Living alone in her New Brunswick home, Chyrl developed some health issues over the years including a bad hip, knee and heart, so it helped having a loyal companion with a soft and tender personality by her side. Though she had owned pets before, Chyrl always knew there was something special about Meskie.
It was a beautiful afternoon in late September 2013. Lynn and Jerry O’Connor had just enjoyed a weekend at the family cabin and planned to head back to their home in Peterborough that evening. Lynn wanted to get a walk in first and headed off into the woods with her two German Shepherds, Jake (12) and Kyra (5). Her husband Jerry stayed back at the cabin to watch the football game.
